X-rays & MRI
What if I need x-rays?
The majority of people can commence chiropractic care without any need for x-rays or imaging. However, there can be certain patients, problems, and circumstances whereby x-rays or MRI are warranted.
During your First Visit (Initial Consultation), your chiropractor will thoroughly review your history and examination findings to determine if an x-ray is appropriate. As a rule, we will only recommend x-rays where they will provide useful information for your diagnosis or care, and where having a clearer view of your body’s structure or alignment will be clinically helpful. In some cases, having an x-ray also provides both doctor and patient with peace of mind and a heightened level of certainty regarding the diagnosis, the correct course of care, and treatment planning for the best possible outcome.
Modern digital x-rays provide high quality images with very low exposure to patients, so they are a quick, safe, and effective way to acquire a more in-depth view of your problem.
If you need x-rays, your chiropractor will discuss this with you at your First Visit.
In most cases, x-rays can be arranged with one of our local partner clinics within 1-2 days, and we can then get you back shortly thereafter to review the results and to commence treatment (as indicated). On average x-rays cost between £75-£120 per body region imaged.
What about MRI?
Some problems are not well viewed using x-ray, and are better viewed and assessed using MRI.
For example, this is often the case with lumbar and cervical disc injuries, complex joint injuries, and tendon and soft tissue injuries needing further clarification, among others.
If it is determined that you need an MRI, we will arrange a referral to a local private partner facility where you can get this scan done quickly and cost-effectively. One of our preferred MRI providers is Medneo, conveniently located in Central London, where the average cost of an MRI would be £445, or a discounted off-peak rate of £325.
